LG announced G8X ThinQ smartphone with “droplet” display, dual camera, Snapdragon 855 chip and updated DualScreen case

The Korean manufacturer LG, as promised, announced at the IFA 2019 in Berlin the flagship smartphone LG G8X ThinQ.

What is known

The novelty resembles the predecessor LG G8 ThinQ . Of the external differences, a drop-shaped cutout on the display and the absence of a fingerprint scanner on the rear side can be distinguished. It is now installed under the 6.4-inch FHD + OLED screen.

At the heart of the device is the Snapdragon 855 processor and 6 GB of RAM. Built-in storage in the new 128 GB. It can be expanded with a microSD memory card. The battery in the LG G8X ThinQ is 4000 mAh with a USB-C port and fast charge. The smartphone runs on Android 9 Pie OS.

The main camera in the device is dual. The main module is 12 megapixels with aperture f / 1.8 and optical stabilization (OIS), and the additional is a wide-angle lens of 13 megapixels with a coverage angle of 136 degrees. The front camera, in turn, is 32-megapixel.

Among the features of the LG G8X ThinQ are water and shock protection (IP68 / MIL-STD 810G), a 32-bit DAC, a headphone jack, and support for the updated DualScreen case. It is equipped with two screens: a main 6.4-inch OLED with a notch and an additional 2.1-inch monochrome for notifications. The cover opens 360 degrees and its internal screen can be used as a gamepad or a large QWERTY-keyboard. DualScreen weighs 134 grams, and the smartphone itself is 192 grams.

Price and when to wait

Prices and start date for sales of LG G8X ThinQ and DualScreen case, the manufacturer has not yet announced. It is only known that new items will appear on store shelves before the end of this year. In South Korea, the smartphone will be released as the LG V50S ThinQ 5G.
