In May of last 2019, Lenovo showed a prototype of the first Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold folding laptop . Now, for the CES exhibition, the company introduced a ready-made device.
What it is
Instead of the usual display and keyboard, there is one large screen. It has an 13.3-inch OLED display with a 4: 3 aspect ratio.
At the development stage, Lenovo employees tried 6 different hinge designs and more than 20 options, but settled on the familiar hinge. There is a gap between the two halves when folded, but it is used to good use: the Mini Fold Bluetooth keyboard is hidden here . It can be used when the laptop is completely unfolded. The keyboard is attached to the ThinkPad X1 Fold with magnets and is charged.
According to the manufacturer, the laptop itself is made of light alloys and carbon fiber and weighs a little more than 900 g. The kit comes with a leather case for extra protection with a special stand for the unfolded gadget. There is also stylus support, so artists and designers will definitely like a flexible notebook .
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold received Intel Core processors, 8 GB of RAM, drives up to 1 TB and Windows 10 operating system, but in the near future ThinkPad X1 Fold should switch to Windows 10X.
Such a laptop is not cheap – $ 2,499. Although it is not much more expensive than folding smartphones.
Sales should begin in the middle of this year.
